Dry Needling

Dry needling, also known as myofascial trigger point needling and intramuscular stimulation, is an invasive but very effective technique for the treatment of trigger points or knots within the affected muscle, and for the treatment of muscle pain and dysfunction.

Dry needling involves inserting acupuncture needles (thin solid filament needles) directly into a muscle trigger point or knot to relax the overactive muscle. When the needle is inserted, a local twitch response or short muscular contraction may be felt, indicating that the muscle knot or trigger point has released.
