Dry Needling in North Ryde & Macquarie Park

Dry needling, also known as myofascial trigger point needling and intramuscular stimulation, is an invasive but very effective technique for the treatment of trigger points or knots within the affected muscle, and for the treatment of muscle pain and dysfunction.

If you are experiencing pain in your back or neck that has so far been difficult to treat, dry needling may be worth trying. Dry needling will release the tension in the muscles first and help them be more responsive to other chiropractic treatments.

Trigger Point Dry Needling for tight muscles, headaches, back pain and neck pain

Macquarie Chiro’s experienced chiropractor, Dr Yousef AbouHashem, has clinical expertise in dealing with back pain, migraines, sciatica nerve pain and other joint issues. He has found dry needling to be an effective treatment for these conditions alongside other chiropractic treatments.

While its purpose is different from acupuncture, the two treatments do share similarities, including the use of thin solid filament needles. In dry needling, the needles are directly inserted into a muscle trigger point or knot to relax the overactive muscle. When the needle is inserted, a local twitch response or short muscular contraction may be felt, indicating that the muscle knot or trigger point has released. Some patients may experience a slight twinge of pain depending on how tight the muscles are, but this fades away quickly and with frequent treatment the pain lessens significantly.
